In 2000, the province issued Local Responses to Homelessness, a Planning Guide for BC Communities , to assist municipalities to address the problem of homelessness.

The Mental Health Homelessness Initiative created 3,600 units of supportive housing for persons with a mental illness who were homeless or at risk of homelessness.

He has also noted that eviction, which usually leads to homelessness, affects a large number of persons and that most of those affected are children, and has emphasized the existing link between evictions and violence, and the fact that homelessness increases the vulnerability of children to sexual abuse.

Since the launch of the National Homelessness Initiative in December 1999, the Government of Canada has invested 17.2 million in Saskatchewan.

In Western Europe, rates of homelessness have reached their highest level in 50 years and North America is experiencing a similar phenomenon.

As elaborated on in the Special Rapporteur's report on homelessness, the right to land is inextricably linked to the right to adequate housing.

The Roma community in Bosnia and Herzegovina is a victim of inherited discrimination, which contributed to the widespread poverty, unemployment, homelessness and lack of access to education.

Potential homelessness may be interpreted to mean individuals living in overcrowded conditions (three or more persons in a room), in primitive housing units or in condemned buildings.

Throughout 2003 2004, the Ministry of Children and Family Development provided a variety of services to assist high risk youth wanting to exit homelessness and or the street.
