It is an account of Dou Fu , the leading character, a bean who miraculously took on human form, how he overcame numerous difficulties and persevered in his dream to become an immortal. This adorable animated film about becoming an immortal is closely connected with Hubei s local culture.

But, anyway, that's where I grew up, in this little tofu factory in Seattle, and it was kind of like this a small room where I kind of grew up. I'm big there in that picture.

Designer John Maeda talks about his path from a Seattle tofu factory to the Rhode Island School of Design, where he became president in 2008. Maeda, a tireless experimenter and a witty observer, explores the crucial moment when design met computers.

He said that the story of Tofu occurred during the reign of Emperor Wu of Western Han Dynasty, against the backdrop of Liu An, Prince of Huainan, making pills to attain immortality. The leading character Dou Fu was a bean that miraculously took on human form by accident while Liu An was making these pills.
