UNEP is closely cooperating with other international organizations with related programmes in the region, such as WHO and the European Environment Agency.

European integration is vital for Kosovo and for the region.

Three such meetings have been held, in the Latin America and the Caribbean region, the Asia and Pacific region, and the European region.

The response provided by the European region shows stable trends, but in reality the responses of Central and Eastern European countries differ from those of Western European countries.

A stable and European Kosovo means a stable Western Balkans region, and vice versa.

290. In 1987, Denmark adopted the principles of a special research strategy to support the development of the WHO strategy of health for all in the European region.

Under the new agreement, the European rate would be paid in euros and would more closely address the conditions of service in the European region.

C. The experience of the Eastern European Region, in particular with regard to the Yugoslav succession

In doing so, the SEECP participating States will encourage initiatives originating from the South Eastern European region.

WHO has developed an online global road safety legislation database, building on the comprehensive work already undertaken for the European region by the Economic Commission for Europe Working Party on Road Traffic Safety.

Justifying the suspension, European Community member States explicitly mentioned the threat to peace and security in the region.

The European Union believes that by pursuing these objectives it is contributing to the stabilization of that region.

It is a great pleasure to see a fellow representative of the Central European region in this office.

That region, including the Russian Federation, accounted for 2.3 per cent of total European cocaine seizures in 1995.

Greece, as part of the region and as current Chairman of the South East European Cooperation Process, is actively engaged in promoting the deepening of cooperation in the region.

We are all working towards the same ultimate goal stabilizing the region and the pursuit of the European perspective.

C. The experience of the Eastern European Region, in particular with regard to the Yugoslav succession 36 39 13

We have regular consultations with our neighbours, countries from the region and members of the Eastern European regional group.

On 13 October 1997, the European Commission had signed with UNRWA a memorandum of understanding regarding the construction with European Union resources of a hospital in the Khan Younis region.

In October 1997, the CRTS is organizing at Rabat, in association with EURISY, the Council of Europe, the European Commission, the European Space Agency and other European national space agencies, a symposium on quot space technologies for major risks quot in the European and Mediterranean region.

That would reflect the specific interests of the Eastern European region and ensure the truly global nature of the Convention.

For its part, the United Kingdom, in the Contact Group, in the Council, in the European Union and in the region, will continue to work to build a stable, sustainable European future for Kosovo and for the region as a whole, a future in which we very much hope that Serbia and Montenegro too will assume its rightful place within the European family.

The same can also be said of the Balkans, which is now one of the hottest spots in the European region.

New Caledonia may have representation in countries of the Pacific region and at the above mentioned organizations and the European Union.

In addition, there exists a network of WHO collaborating centres in each region.

The fifth training programme on the prevention of conflict for NHRIs of the European and Central Asian Region is planned for autumn 2006.

For the European Union, cooperation with the Tribunal has always been, and remains, a key issue in Kosovo and in the region as a whole, as it has direct impact on progress towards its European ambitions.
