Indeed, an item could not be put under a working paper, but rather a working paper under an item.

The work of the Working Group had led to the preparation, in addition to its report, of two background documents.

Staff often work on several documents, a single document could be assigned to more than one person, and priority work is given preference, thus interrupting other jobs.

We support this document and propose to adopt it as a basis for further work.

It decided to make the report a working document.

A suggested approach to the organization of work is contained in annex II below.

4. At the 1st meeting of the Working Group, the Chairman submitted his first working paper (A CN.10 1998 WG.I WP.1), which took into consideration last year s working papers and other submissions and which was taken by the Group as a basis for structured discussions.

She also suggested the possibility of merging her working paper with that of Mr. Cherif.

In relation to Ms. Chung's suggested working paper, Mr.Salama noted that he had recently submitted a working paper on a similar topic and offered to work with Ms. Chung in the preparation of her paper, possibly by updating his first working paper.

44. The Secretariat presented a comprehensive issue paper with recommendations for the revision of medical support services (annex III of the Working Group report).

The programme of work would be presented in a document which would be made available to the Committee at a later date.

26. A number of other informal working papers dealing with substantive questions were also submitted by Member States to the working groups and are referred to in the reports.

In the second part of this working paper, a proposal for drawing up an inventory of relevant legal texts by the Secretariat is made.

The Committee took note of a working paper on terminology prepared by the Secretariat that provided a comparison between the terms contained in the Convention and other relevant international and regional instruments.

3. As the author stated in the previous Sub Commission document (E CN.4 Sub.2 1996 7, para. 3), he hopes that this working paper can be considered in plenary meeting during the forty ninth session.

Many delegations, including her own, had called for a single document consolidating the points they had in common and providing a basis of discussion for the relevant working group at the current session.

An issue paper was presented to the Working Group with recommendations to limit this financial liability.

Similarly, the appointment of two experts to prepare a working paper or to undertake a study is an excellent idea.

99. Mr. Chernichenko presented his second working paper on the definition of minorities (the first was submitted to the second session of the Working Group in document E CN.4 Sub.2 AC.5 1996 WP.1) and highlighted a number of issues which he deemed particularly important.
