While intraregional trade had grown in Asia and Latin America and the Caribbean, intra African trade had declined at a rate of 9 per cent during the first half of the 1990s.

In the near future, the UNDP Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific intends to develop an Asian regional human development report focusing on indigenous peoples.

Intra South, East and Southeast Asia Almost two fifths of the FDI stock in Asia is intraregional, with Hong Kong (China), China and Singapore as leading investors in their own region (table 3).

12. In Asia and the Pacific, studies have been completed on the impact of regional and global trade agreements on women in Fiji and Papua New Guinea.

Advice was also provided to an MCS project financed by Luxembourg in the Subregional Fisheries Commission area of Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia, Guinea Bissau, Guinea and Cape Verde, as well as to specialists involved in setting up an EU financed project for MCS in southern Africa.
