Mandate Article 8, paragraph 2, of the Convention provides that the functions of the secretariat shall be, inter alia, to make arrangements for sessions of the Conference of the Parties and its subsidiary bodies and to provide them with services as required .

10. Decides to include in the provisional agenda of its fifty eighth session an item entitled Integrated and coordinated implementation of and follow up to the outcomes of the major United Nations conferences and summits in the economic, social and related fields and to consider it directly in plenary meeting.

(b) At its third and, as appropriate, fourth session, the Preparatory Committee, taking into account the deliberations and results of its previous sessions, should make every effort to produce a consensus report containing recommendations to the Review Conference. Rule 7 of the rules of procedure of the functional commissions of the Economic and Social Council requires that the Commission shall, at the beginning of each session, adopt the agenda for that session on the basis of the provisional agenda.

Draft resolution to be recommended by the Economic and Social Council for adoption by the General Assembly

It is recommended that items 1 4 and 8 of the provisional agenda and the high level segment of the Eleventh Congress be allocated to plenary meetings while items 6 and 7 of the provisional agenda and workshops 1, 2 and 3 be allocated to Committee I for consideration.

Bearing in mind that, in accordance with Economic and Social Council resolution 1999 65, the maximum number of meeting days allocated to the Committee and its subsidiary bodies is 38 (76 meetings), the Committee agreed that the schedule of meetings for the period 2005 2006 should be as follows
