Applications of biotechnology for development

Applications in ICTs and biotechnologies in particular, hold enormous promise for the achievements of MDGs.

Promote, facilitate and finance, as appropriate, access to and the development, transfer and diffusion of technologies and corresponding know how to developing countries

Other areas that the Programme promotes include developing capability in enabling technologies, such as the use of global navigation and positioning satellite systems, spin offs of space technology, promoting the participation of youth in space activities, applications of small satellites and microsatellites and promoting the participation of private industry in the activities of the Programme.

Promoting the dissemination of technologies is therefore of key importance, and issues of access to and transfer of technologies may need to be addressed.
