Iraqi police and military forces are shouldering the burden in 12 of Iraq's 18 provinces.

The Government had asked for a 12 month extension for the mandate of the multinational force in Iraq.

Our second objective was to send to the people of Iraq a message of support for the sovereignty of Iraq.

As a contributor to the Multinational Force, the United Kingdom will continue to work in close partnership with the Iraqi Government, assisting its efforts to ensure that Iraqi forces assume full responsibility for security and stability in Iraq as soon as possible.

As indicated earlier, nine claim files were transmitted to Iraq because the situs of all or some of the claimed losses was in Iraq, and one claim was transmitted to Iraq because the claimant claimed for losses relating to an invoice issued by an Iraqi party.

(c) The importance of Iraq's neighbouring countries and regional organizations in supporting the political process, cooperating with the Iraqi authorities to control transit across Iraq's borders and extending other support for the people of Iraq in their efforts to achieve security and prosperity.
