In the 1994 95 school year there were 31 private schools with 2,516 students, 11 of which were primary schools with 809 pupils, one secondary school with 76 pupils, two junior high schools with 69 pupils, eight senior high schools with 943 pupils, and nine vocational high schools with 619 pupils.

The total number of students in the first four grades of the special primary schools was 208, of whom 76 were girls 204 students managed to graduate from the grade, of whom 75 are girls.

In the higher grades of primary schools, during the school year 1999 2000, there were 289 students, of whom 94 were girls 283 students graduated from the grade, 94 of them girls, which means that 100 per cent of them have graduated, as opposed to the boy students.

School and University Students' Grants

There are 13 primary schools 11 Government run, 1 private and 1 services school with a total of 3,723 students enrolled.

In the 1993 94 school year there were 22 such schools, accounting for 0.6 per cent of all schools. Eleven of them were primary schools, two junior high schools, six senior high schools and three vocational high schools.

The total number of regular primary schools is 1,052, of which there are 385 central and 667 regional schools.

The primary school pupils form 60.2 per cent of the pupils and students at all other levels.

Women consist a majority in other faculties related to fields of health such as Stomatology 422 women out of the total 610 students (69,8 ) and Pharmacy where out of the total 390 students 344 of them are women (88,2 ).

The retention rate for girls at the primary level is high, in that 98 per cent of them complete this level (see table 3).
