Twelve of the 50 military staff officers who served with UNTMIH were repatriated in January 1998.

With regard to military personnel, the Advisory Committee noted that the standard practice was for military contingents to provide for their own logistic and support capacities.

The revised cost estimate reflects additional requirements for the increase in the United Nations vehicle establishment from 880 to 959 vehicles, the phased repatriation of contingent owned vehicles and the retention of 236 contingent owned vehicles for the military task force.

In the military sphere, Germany is the largest troop contributor to ISAF.

Of these 15 missions, two contained only military contingents, five included both military contingents and military and or civilian observers police, and eight consisted of military and or civilian observers police only.

In that context, I was proud to witness the laudable work being carried out by the various military contingents in Haiti.

The provision for the deployment travel of military contingent personnel, daily allowance, rations and freight cost for deployment of contingent owned equipment is based on the phased deployment of 4,625 troops, including 181 staff officers, by October 2005, within a total authorized strength of 9,250 troops.

In accordance with the Special Court's request, that task could be entrusted to a company size military contingent with an overall strength of up to 250 military personnel, including support staff.

72. Under the first topic, JIU discussed the roles of the members of the Security Council, troop contributing countries and the United Nations Secretariat.

The increase in requirements is the result of the delayed repatriation of contingent personnel and the retention of a military task force of 955 personnel.

10. The estimate provides for the phased repatriation of 148 military observers, and 2,731 military contingent personnel and the emplacement of 57 civilian police observers.
