The net balance of the sales publications revolving fund as at 31 December 2004 is 132,267.

This statement presents the allocation of costs of both marketing and support services between fund raising and sales to measure the net contribution of each activity.

The current increase of 17,804,500 gross ( 17,046,600 net) represents an additional increase of 11,747,000 gross ( 11,206,500 net), which is the net result of the decrease in the UNTMIH liquidation requirements by 5,523,800 gross ( 5,290,100 net) offset by the requirements for MIPONUH of 17,270,800 gross ( 16,496,600 net).

The increases are partly offset by lower net income from the sale of publications, statistical and population products and gift and news stand items at Headquarters.

Owing to this investment flow, net transfer to the region on a financial basis reached more than 13 billion, the highest level in the decade.

That figure would have been even higher, however, had the size of the net transfer on official flows not become smaller yet again in 1997.

Without allocating operating expenses between the two revenue generating activities, the projected 2006 net PSD income (regular resources) of 334.4 million comprises net operating income from private sector fund raising of 302.7 million and from card and gift sales of 53.1 million, offset by the cost of investment funds of 21.4 million to support fund raising and sales initiatives.

IS3.5 Net revenue from the projected sale of publications is expected to decrease by 884,800, from 1,838,000 to 952,200, continuing the decline of sales of United Nations publications worldwide, which is due to a number of factors, including the increase in online sales of products.

This would result in a net unencumbered balance of 3,564,300 gross ( 1,999,400 net).
