66. Wherever the authority is assigned, the Supreme Audit Institution has a vital role to play in the development of the internal control structure.

The remainder of this document discusses in greater detail the definition and limitations of internal controls, the internal control standards, the establishment of the framework for internal controls and the implementation and monitoring of internal control structures.

It is now high time to consider a more integrated structure for environmental standard setting, scientific discussion and monitoring treaty compliance.

The meeting concluded with a round table discussion, a formulation of the preliminary conclusions and an outline by the Statistics Division of future activities.

Such closure shall have the same effect as closure pursuant to rule 23.
