What about the shipment?

Transport of dangerous goods in Norway is regulated through the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR) and Regulations concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Rail (RID) respectively.

A contract that contains an option to carry the goods by sea shall be deemed to be a contract of carriage provided that the goods are actually carried by sea.

4.2.1.15.2 Portable tanks used for the transport of radioactive material shall not be used for the transport of other goods.

International transportation of goods is increasingly being carried out on a door to door basis, involving more than one mode of transportation.

In response it was explained that, while the carriage of live animals was typically multimodal in practice, it was never conducted on the basis of a multimodal contract of carriage and that therefore the non maritime leg of the carriage was subject to domestic law.

The Land Transportation Office of the Department of Transportation was involved in the registration of motor vehicles.
