But that, as I said, we live in this environment where all these obstacles are being put in our way.

I never had met someone with such a hard life, from such a totally different culture and environment from my own.

We need not be immobilized today by uncertainty about how to handle every turn and bump that may appear in the road tomorrow.

And for those who are older, who have lived through perhaps not something as bad as this, but who have lived through difficult times, perhaps where they lost everything, as I did, and started out all over again, some of these things will seem very familiar.

The road ahead is not free of difficulties, but the Strategy represents a decisive step towards solving the challenges of the twenty first century and preparing us for the world of tomorrow.

But we, the international community, should stand ready to assist them along the stony path from violence and terror, bloodshed and suffering, towards a better life in peace and security.

Economic development is a convoluted process, full of challenges and risks, successes and failures, external shocks and internal volatility. And adverse effects such as a rising debt to GDP ratio and excess capacity are inevitable.
