Lastly, unemployment rates are high in rural areas, as can be seen from the low income levels of the employed population and the indicators of poverty and destitution mentioned above.

The 2004 Human Development Report also contained no female employment indicators for Gabon.

The index measuring the employment situation of large enterprises hit negative 23, which was the most tight level since 1992, highlighting the tightening of the employment market.

90. Despite this recession related decline the number of gainfully employed persons is still at a high level.
