An officer retiring after completion of 30 years of service is entitled to draw a pension calculated at 90 per cent of his last drawn salary and to a commuted pension, is eligible for a monthly pension of 80 per cent of his last drawn salary and to a commuted pension of 24 times his monthly pension.

This means that the lowest salary is a variable category and its nominal amount increases or decreases depending on fluctuation of average salary levels.
