18. This difference indicated that adjustments had been made between accounts receivable and accounts payable to the extent of 127.4 million without reflecting the same in the books of accounts.

Credit adjustment from the prior period

The Office informed the Board that by June 1998, it had properly recorded 21 of the petty cash balances, 16 dormant accounts had been closed, and efforts were continuing with the 11 remaining accounts.

The amount of US 2,656,767 shown in statement II represents balances of project imprest accounts advanced by UNDP and maintained by the Office at project sites.

This is done in accordance with procedures regarding the administration of programme support accounts, described in an administrative instruction on programme support accounts (ST AI 286, annex).
