Three members are elected from among candidates proposed by WHO and 10 are elected from among candidates proposed by Governments.

The nomination by a constituency of a candidate member shall be accompanied by a nomination for a candidate alternate member from the same constituency.

When candidates are to be nominated, each nomination shall be made by only one representative, after which the Conference shall immediately proceed to the election.

Following a review of the applications, the National Elections Commission approved 22 presidential candidates, 22 vice presidential candidates, 205 candidates for the Senate and 513 candidates for the House of Representatives.

Its seven members are to be chosen by the National Assembly on the basis of a list of 10 candidates nominated by the Government.

The presidential election was contested by 18 candidates, including one woman.

In Herat, a woman candidate received the most votes out of 17 candidates.

The Legal Counsel informed States that, should they decide to nominate two or more candidates, then they were at liberty, should they wish to do so, to nominate candidates who were of the same nationality as each other.

Potential candidates who are not included in the roster have to be submitted for inclusion before they can be considered for short listing.

On 11 July, the Electoral Complaints Commission provided the Joint Electoral Management Body with a list of 17 candidates who were disqualified.

The 22 registered political parties, two alliances and one coalition, which put forward some 205 Senate and 513 House of Representatives candidates, and the 22 presidential candidates, with their running mates, conducted their political campaigns in a generally peaceful manner.

The Chairperson and the Rapporteur will select three more members from a list of nominees submitted to them by mandate holders.

On the date of the election, the General Assembly will elect 27 ad litem judges from the list of candidates submitted to it by the Security Council.

The selection panel for the Commission screened 150 candidates nominated by the Liberian public and provided a shortlist of names to Chairman Bryant on 23 September.
