It appeared that some 300 partnerships had been registered with the Commission's secretariat, mainly among Governments or intergovernmental organizations but there were few partnerships within the private sector or between the public and the private sectors.

Participants broke into regional groupings to consider two questions

At the regional level, partnerships, such as the New Partnership for Africa's Development, the Congo Basin Forest Partnership and the Asia Forest Partnership have proved to be an effective catalysing force.

Urges Member States to send consistent messages to governing bodies of members of the Collaborative Partnership on Forests so that the Partnership

Increased cooperation will be sought with non traditional partners, including the community of non governmental organizations, the United Nations Fund for International Partnerships, and the private sector.
