Wrap up

The Countdown to 1999 newsletter, which provides up to date information on governmental and United Nations system activities for 1999, continues to be published.

Development Update, a newsletter released in English in October 1997, March and July (issues 22, 23, 24)

Several expressed their strong support for the Department s development publications, including Development Business, Development Update, UN Chronicle, Africa Recovery and UN Briefing Papers, which they believed could help foster development concerns.

The IPS United Nations bureau in New York produced the Daily Journal, an overnight faxed bulletin of news from IPS of particular interest to United Nations staff and missions.

IPS supported the work of the Group of 77 through producing and distributing its bulletin.

The NGO Representative attends DPI briefings and disseminates material from such briefings through organizational newsletters.

The first newsletter was issued in June 1997.

The Mission's public information activities continued through radio programmes, weekly press briefings, video productions and UNMEE newsletters.

The work of IPS is organized along two main lines of activity the IPS news agency and IPS projects.

Now it's only using its simplest feet here, so this is very new.

An updated version of the compendium will be published in the near future.

It will communicate with its members through a quarterly newsletter, which will be a forum for information exchange as well as a medium for dissemination of educational materials in basic space science.

In cooperation with Third World Network and the South Centre, the IPS bureau in Geneva contributed to the South North Development Monitor (SUNS) bulletin.

Such information, when submitted officially, could also be included in the concise update.

Summaries of UNIDIR current research projects and recent publications are contained within each issue.
