We ran out of gas.

No salt, no pepper, no oil, no spices.

Printing ink is in short supply.

And gratefully, it didn't.

I distinctly nobody forgets cod liver oil.

Some people say there are not oil plumes.

There is no free market for oil.

No one was interested in oil spills.

Ten minutes later, our car ran out of gas.

We do not have private aircraft stopping here for refueling normally.

And the second boy said, I bring you myrhh.

Recently, Iran Oil Minister Zanganeh disclosed that no country other than South Korea has stopped buying Iran oil.

Now, that's just one story about oil, and we could end it there and say, Well, oil's going to last forever because, well, there's just a lot of it.

And they said, We tried. There isn't any.

We're the only ones who don't have the price set right.

A third argument is that if speculation were to blame for price increases, there should have been an increase in oil inventories, because speculators do not consume oil but instead store it for later sale. Since there has been no rise in inventories, there has been no speculation.

So how would you run a whole country without oil?

Tiny landlocked state. No oil. No diamonds. No natural resources.

Rob Hopkins reminds us that the oil our world depends on is steadily running out. He proposes a unique solution to this problem the Transition response, where we prepare ourselves for life without oil and sacrifice our luxuries to build systems and communities that are completely independent of fossil fuels.

He didn't have to speak, but you know the bit where the three kings come in. They come in bearing gifts, and they bring gold, frankincense and myrhh.

And yet we may not realize that in a standard sedan, of all the fuel energy you feed into the car, seven eighths never gets to the wheels it's lost first in the engine, idling at zero miles a gallon, the power train and accessories.

Luckily still, it seems to be out of harm's way of the recent oil spill.

That's just the gasoline cost. There is also pollution, wear on the car, and time.

We stopped drilling in ANWR, but we didn't actually reduce the amount of oil that we consumed.

Go, go, go.

What people don't think about is what if the oil had made it safely to shore?

CA Yeah. Have you had information from inside BP?

So oil and petrochemicals are not just a problem where there's a spill they're a problem where there's not.

A decade later, we have high oil prices, but they are not due to a well designed tax, either in America or elsewhere. As a result, the price boom is boosting windfall profits for the owners of oil deposits rather than improving countries' public finances.

There is Italian Chinese food, where they don't have fortune cookies, so they serve fried gelato.

It's countries like Nigeria, which are worse off than if they'd never had oil.

And this is very important, because the only way you can catch these guys is if they run out of gas.

So late last year in November last year there was a series of well blowouts in Albania, like the well blowout in the Gulf of Mexico, but not quite as big.

Now the ship sank between Robben Island to the south and Dassen Island to the north.

Rising oil prices are due to the sharp increase in demand by the major consumers, which have not adopted effective policies to reduce their dependency on hydrocarbons.

And the Ritz Carlton Tower is being designed with exposed steel, non fire proof, much like those old gas tanks.

Indeed, other conventions which did not contain such a threshold, such as conventions on liability regimes relating to nuclear activities or the transport of oil by sea, were on the other hand not mentioned.

And anyway, there was never enough kerosene, because what does a dollar a day buy for you?

Indeed, because oil prices were rising while the dollar was declining, capacity expansion by oil firms failed to meet forecasts for non OPEC production in the last three years. Even oil production in the United States has not matched the increase in oil prices, as rising import costs for tools and equipment partly a reflection of the dollar s weakness and other factors have forced project delays and cancellations.

Of course, the lower dollar means cheaper oil in Europe, Asia, and all countries with appreciating currencies. Oil prices hit records in the US in 2004 and 2005, but not in Europe, which partly explains why economic growth there has not been affected.

And then another six can be made robustly, competitively, from cellulosic ethanol and a little bio diesel, without interfering at all with the water or land needs of crop production.
