You see, technology is a way to evolve the evolution.

I'm a stunt coordinator. And as well as perform stunts I often design them.

Now, if you are interested, I will demonstrate some underground techniques.

And on the other side of the fence, that physical art, the physical performance of the stuntman, has interfaced with the very highest technology in I.T. and in software.

So they in the morning will do something in arena, then they'll do something in proscenium and so forth.

So an artistic director has the ability to show have a performance that enters in a Wagnerian procession, shows the first act in thrust, the intermission in a Greek procession, second act in arena, and so forth.

In this case, they were using a real stunt man. It was a very dangerous stunt.

And the number one presentation tip never, ever look at the screen.

What I'd like to do first is take you through a very brief helicopter ride of stunts and the stunts industry in the movies and in television, and show you how technology has started to interface with the physical skills of the stunt performer in a way that makes the stunts bigger and actually makes them safer than they've ever been before.

And I don't have any smart technology for you to look at.

And that is a wonderful position to be in to create some serious play.

And what technology is really about is better ways to evolve.

So with all this knowledge, I also wanted to get into stunts.

And I've been going to the rodeos with him, and we've bonded.

We can't be killing camera men. We can't be killing stunt men.

It's critical now that when a car crash happens it isn't just the stunt person we make safe, it's the crew.

I should know not to do technology demos in front of an audience. It's just, like, absurd.

As the technology evolves, as you get full immersive displays and whatnot, this sort of thing will only grow.

It actually goes way back, and what I want to suggest is it goes a long way back.

And thing our process and the technology couldn't do, is they couldn't understand intent, the intent of the actor.

I wouldn't say his stunt double. There's a crazy rig that we built for this.

So the major trends in technology evolution actually are the same as in biological evolution. The same drives that we see towards ubiquity, towards diversity, towards socialization, towards complexity. That is maybe not a big surprise because if we map out, say, the evolution of armor, you can actually follow a sort of an evolutionary type cladistic tree.

We heard a lot about technology this week, and it's important for us to remember to invest a lot of our energy in improving the technology of the heart.
