444. The need for obtaining better information about the ocean floor has led to recent advances in diving apparatus, submersibles, remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) and self propelled autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs).

Scuba divers can't get there, submarines go right on past it.

I've made hundreds of dives in submersibles.

I don t know of any other submersible, or even remote, that just takes advantage that this is a three dimensional space.

We need new deep diving submarines.

And I've dived in deep sea submersibles around the world.

This is us chasing it in the submersible.

For this the Germans had three powerful weapons, the magnetic mine, the Uboat, and the surface raider.

The recently developed AUVs are computer guided, untethered vehicles, capable of overcoming many of these problems, but are expensive.

This, I think, represents one of the most beautiful classic submersibles built.

On the other hand, cable operated submerged systems in deep water are encountering certain problems either reduced speed, as in the case of ROVs on the seabed, or reduced accuracy of positioning, as in the case of deep tow vehicles operating in the water column.

And of course there're multiple displays, to get the information to the diver.

So the sub that was outside last year this is the one.

But that could just be because the submersible has a wider field of view.

This is the first flying machine. This was the first prototype.

We need deep diving subs, new technologies to explore the ocean.
