For most of the reporting Parties, the bulk of transport emissions are on account of gasoline consumption by automobiles and other vehicles, while diesel and jet fuel consumption are responsible for a much lower share of emissions.

Fugitive fuel emissions from production, final use and transport of natural gas as well as from coal mining and oil extraction represented 72 per cent of the total methane emissions.

The most important challenge is to reduce, and eventually nearly eliminate, carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels such as oil, natural gas, and coal. These fuels are at the core of the modern world economy, supplying around four fifths of the world s commercial energy.

33. Parties are encouraged to include separately projections of emissions from international bunker fuels and or provide information which will facilitate international projections of bunker fuel emissions.

This sector covers emissions from energy end use in the household, commercial and public sectors as well as from the combustion of fossil fuels and by products from industrial processes.
