Particular reference was made to the preparation of the Global Report on Crime and Justice, the regional reports on the results of the Fifth Survey and work on the transnational crime survey.

The National Crime Record Bureau of the Ministry of Home Affairs in India publishes an annual report entitled Crime in India, and in Malaysia, the Royal Police compiles crime data.

The Editor in Chief of the Global Report on Crime and Justice presented an overview of the preparation and publication of the various reports on the United Nations surveys of crime trends and operations of criminal justice systems.

For the expert working group, the report of the European Institute would represent a departure from previous reports, in that it would be criminologically informed.

Comparative and national reports were and will be produced for each International crime (victim) survey cycle, thus updating an important international database on crimes, victims and justice. .

Several speakers reported on national projects in victim support and urban crime prevention.

Requests the Secretary General to report to the General Assembly at its fifty sixth session on the implementation of the present resolution and to include in his reports on the activities of the Institute detailed information on the financial flows of the Trust Fund and the utilization of the resources of the Institute, in keeping with similar reports on such institutes as the United Nations African Institute for the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders.

Past experience has shown that it is sometimes difficult to immediately find a refuge for victims who have reported this crime to the police.

Also, the circular does not lift the impunity enjoyed by commanders who themselves committed criminal offences.

The family situation report is also an important document, as it establishes whether the adopting party has any history of abuse or violence, or any criminal record.

To this end, the Global Report will give an up to date picture of the global crime situation, with particular emphasis on the changing nature of criminality and of the unique and diverse approaches to combating and preventing crime.

Finally, the United Kingdom reported on the establishment of a central intelligence unit in Bucharest to focus on organized immigration related crime in Romania.

Requests the Secretary General to report to the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice at its seventeenth session on the implementation of the present resolution.

Requests the Secretary General to report on the implementation of the present resolution to the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice at its sixteenth session.

5. Also requests the Secretary General to report to the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice at its fourteenth session on the implementation of the present resolution.

It is also a crime to abet this crime (Section 166, paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code), to fail to prevent it (Section 167 of the Criminal Code), and to fail to report it (Section 168 of the Criminal Code).
