Its Standing Committee discussed oversight matters regularly.

The Central Board of Film Censors, Censor Board for Private Productions, the Advertising Censor Board, the Drama Censor Board all have representation of women.

Oversight Committee

It also welcomes the creation of an independent Prison Council.

The Committee commends the establishment of an Advisory Commission on Human Rights, a Complaints Office within the Permanent Special Commission against Racial Discrimination, advisory commissions for foreigners in the communes, and the appointment of an ombudsman.

These oversight mechanisms were referred to as either audit committees or oversight committees.

Joint Monitoring Committee

Continuing to support visits by the Chairman and by members of the Security Council, the Committee and the Monitoring Team.

At the request of OIOS, the Commission's Governing Council approved funding for one auditor in 1997.

I have the honour to refer to Security Council resolution 1284 (1999), in which the Council requested that I consult the Executive Chairman of the United Nations Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC) and the Council members on the appointment of suitably qualified experts as UNMOVIC Commissioners.

28. The Advisory Committee was informed that a staff member of the Office of Internal Oversight Services was participating in the meetings of the Committee on Contracts as an observer.

Survey results on audit and oversight committees

I have the honour to refer to Security Council resolution 1284 (1999), which requires me to consult the Security Council and the Executive Chairman of the United Nations Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC) on the appointment of suitably qualified experts as UNMOVIC Commissioners.

The timetable will be finalized by the Parties and the Follow up Commission.

105. Once Congress has been dissolved, a Standing Commission continues to act as a temporary supervisory body this Commission may not be dissolved.

Member Prison Law Reform Committee Committee set up to make recommendations for the reform of the laws governing prisons.

The subject matter has become the responsibility of various functional commissions of the Economic and Social Council, including the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, the Commission on Human Rights and the Commission on the Status of Women (which monitors the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action), in addition to the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women.

International Maritime Committee

The Executive Committee oversees these monitoring activities.

The Electoral Affairs Officer will assist and monitor the activities of the Central Electoral Commission.

The Human Rights Ombudsperson and the Human Rights Chamber (which together form the Commission on Human Rights) are described in annex 6.

The Committee also recommended to the General Assembly that in the year 2002, programme 27, General Assembly and Economic and Social Council affairs and conference services, be subject to evaluation by the Office of Internal Oversight Services for consideration by the Committee for Programme and Coordination at its forty second session.

The report will also examine whether reviews should be undertaken of existing oversight bodies (the Office of Internal Oversight Services, the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions (ACABQ), the International Civil Service Commission (ICSC), the JIU and the Board of Auditors) and, if so, who should be empowered to undertake such reviews.

The Minister consulted with the Advisory Committee on the Power of Pardon, which had before it, inter alia, the Human Rights Committee apos s recommendation, a psychological assessment and reports from the Commissioner of Prisons and the Chief Probation Officer.

The Assembly also needs to review its committee structure, the way committees function, the oversight it provides to them and their outputs.

Safety was managed in accordance with guidelines from Headquarters and by specific programmes, including driver testing, road safety campaigns and monitoring and implementation of guidelines.

A. Reports of the Board of Auditors and the Office of Internal Oversight Services

I am sure that the Second Committee and the Economic and Social Council will continue to carry out that monitoring.

Of the 191 States Members of the United Nations and 3 non member States, 41 are not subject to supervision by the Human Rights Committee and 50 by the CAT since these States are not parties to the respective treaties.

The Committee commends the efforts to promote racial tolerance by the establishment of the Parliamentary Ombudsman, the Chancellor of Justice, the Ombudsman for Aliens, and the Advisory Board for Refugee and Migrant Affairs, as well as the implementation of a human rights curriculum in the schools.

The Article 6 Supervisory Committee may draw on outside expertise and the secretariat services the Supervisory Committee.

The Committee herein refers to the factual information as it is stated in the Team's analysis.

The Board will continue to monitor the matter in its future audits.

The Minister will consult with the Advisory Committee on the Power of Pardon which will have before it, inter alia, the Human Rights Committee apos s recommendation, a psychological assessment of Mr. Neptune and reports from the Commissioner of Prisons and the Chief Probation Officer.

The Committee welcomes the establishment of the Parliamentary Ombudsmen (1994), the Ombudsman for Equal Opportunities (1999) and the Ombudsman for the Rights of the Child (2000).

These structures may include committees or groups to which the board has assigned duties regarding the oversight of executive remuneration, audit matters, appointments to the board, and the evaluation of management performance.

The Parliamentary Inquiry Committee which was a temporary committee appointed for a limited amount of time, has recently become a permanent subcommittee of the government Ombudsman Committee of the Knesset.
