Naturally, those issues were governed by the different mandates of JIU, which was an external system wide oversight body, and the Office, which was an internal United Nations oversight body.

The Supervision Authority conducts financial supervision in the name of the State and is independent in the conduct of financial supervision.

The State Labour Inspectorate has very broad rights in the supervision of working conditions.

The National Sanitary Inspectorate, which is an agency of the WM, monitors the observance of hygienic and anti epidemic requirements, and it has the right to conduct such inspections anywhere in Latvia.

It was also preparing for the establishment of a human rights institute which would ensure that the rights guaranteed by its Constitution and the international agreements to which it was a party were respected.

The Director of the Internal Audit Division of the Office of Internal Oversight Services introduced the report of that Office (A 60 288).
