So far, the Ssecretariat has received 20 confirmations from pParties in that regard.

2. For each State or regional integration organization ratifying, formally confirming or acceding to the present Protocol after the deposit of the tenth such instrument, the Protocol shall enter into force on the thirtieth day after the deposit of its own such instrument.

The secretariat understands that parties are still in the process of internal consultations and believes that the remaining confirmations will be received in due course.

Mr. Zaleski was confirmed as Secretary General of the 2005 Review Conference.

It was observed that the exception was well established in human rights instruments, judicial decisions and legal writings.

He welcomed the confirmation by the General Assembly of the nomination of the new Secretary General of UNCTAD.

The indictments in respect of five other individuals who were still at large had been confirmed (second group).
