In the context of its annual in depth evaluation of a technical cooperation programme, the Working Party on the Medium term Plan and the Programme Budget, at its forty third session in September 2004, adopted a three year evaluation plan starting from 2005.

The third evaluation covered the joint external evaluation of the Community Participation Programmes promoting Safe Water and Sanitation (Nam Saat) in Lao People's Democratic Republic.

Training in methods of evaluation and self evaluation should be arranged by the Office of Policy and Programme Coordination (paragraph 50) (SP 04 002 012).

Evaluation of programmes

With regard to the 2006 2007 work plan, two subprogramme evaluations, three management studies as well as other evaluations are scheduled.

At its thirty sixth session, the Committee noted that the compressed in depth evaluation cycle had increased evaluation coverage without sacrificing quality (A 51 16 (Part I), para. 54).

The increase in 1999 responds to the calendar for preparation of the Third Assessment Report

Three such evaluations were conducted in 1995.

The Committee for Programme and Coordination receives a triennial review three years after adopting its decisions on the evaluation.

At its thirty fourth session, the Committee for Programme and Coordination had before it a report of the Secretary General on strengthening the role of evaluation findings in programme design, delivery and policy directives, in which a drastic shortening of the evaluation cycle, from three years to one year, was recommended (A 49 99, para. 43).
