Violating its distributors commercial freedom of action through the imposition of a mandatory sales price

Identifying the best price has become a real challenge for consumers, and direct tourism sellers such as hotels in developing countries should be attentive to their pricing policy vis à vis other distributors when proposing their prices on their own websites.

This is called bundling. It's bringing those externalities back into the price of the commodity.

Minimum resale price maintenance occurs when a manufacturer imposes a minimum resale price on a dealer, thereby limiting or even excluding a dealer's ability to offer discounts.

Six fuel distributors raised their prices by almost identical amounts within a period of 15 to 34 hours and maintained these higher levels for several months.

It is premature, however, to say whether the recovery in commodity prices has peaked.

But, though inflation is very low, and even negative in a few countries, something more must be going on, because commodity prices are falling relative to the overall price level. In other words, real commodity prices are falling.

Why Are Commodity Prices Falling?

Then there are the countries including Venezuela, Argentina, and Russia that never moved in the reform direction in the first place. They were temporarily bailed out by strong world prices for their export commodities, but that ended last year.

They allow customers to find the best value or lowest price for air tickets and hotels, browsing databases of a large number of distributors that often promise the lowest fare.

In fact, most dollar commodity prices have fallen since the first half of the year. Though a host of sector specific factors affect the price of each commodity, the fact that the downswing is so broad as is often the case with big price swings suggests that macroeconomic factors are at work.
