The World Tourism Organization agrees to transmit its proposed budgets to the United Nations not later than when the said budgets are transmitted to its members so as to enable the General Assembly of the United Nations to examine them and make recommendations, in accordance with Article 17, paragraph 3, of the Charter of the United Nations.

In joint programming, two or more United Nations organizations and national partners work together to prepare, implement, monitor and evaluate programme activities.

The Institute is developing a proposal for joint collaboration with the University of Ghana and the Legon Centre for International Affairs.

H. Follow up to Executive Board decision 2004 8 on joint programming

The proposed United Nations development system approach, led by UNDP, would entail identifying the absorptive capacity challenges as an integral part of the United Nations country programming process.

In addition, the Board approved the paragraph on the Fund to be included in the joint statement to be issued on the occasion of the United Nations International Day in Support of Victims of Torture (see annex II).

For instance, Radio Beijing has formulated plans to broadcast the United Nations Day concerts through a syndicate of over 20 stations in China, for which UN Radio is offering technical support.

UNICEF will continue to pursue opportunities for joint programming at all levels.

In paragraph 260, the Board recommended that UNICEF invite the United Nations country team in China to develop projects involving joint implementation.

A key challenge was how to manage funding for joint programming.

In his report of 20 May 2005 (A 59 441 Add.1), the Secretary General suggested that the Organization should continue to support the United Nations Development Corporation in seeking approval to use the proposed site for UNDC 5 since this is in the long term best interest of the Organization.
