Costs of registration and statistics activities

The total jointly financed budget of the Department of Safety and Security amounts to 199,280,800 before recosting.

Since they are not part of the costed population package, funding for such activities is not included in the calculations of international population assistance and domestic resources for population.

The activities proposed for 1999, and where relevant their estimated cost, include

A cost plan does not reflect the cash or funds available, and allotments may not be equal to the cost plans for various reasons, such as the lack of sufficient funds or actual activities that differ from those planned.

In contrast, there are plans to increase project activities in real terms by 10,000,000 or 9.1 per cent.

After identifying the core and programme support activity clusters, the corresponding budget provisions were calculated by identifying staff requirements, travel and consultancy resources.

Project activities were adjusted for recosting and decreased in accordance with estimated project delivery.

It understood that the allocation of funds for the electoral process, coordinated by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), took no account of the Mission's activities, which should instead be funded from its own budget.

The total cost reduction achieved by United Nations management improvement activities in 2004 was 248,687.

Renewed calls were made for urgent donor support for this exercise, which is estimated to cost 300 million.

The recosting calculation for project activities was restricted as a result of unreliable or strongly fluctuating costing parameters for a number of countries.

A preliminary estimate of the activities envisaged under paragraph (b) would amount to 447,700.

In the budget estimates, this is reflected in a decrease in temporary assistance costs for this activity and an increase in contractors costs.

It is estimated that for the biennium 2006 2007, resources amounting to 1,458,000, consisting of 352,100 under the regular budget and 1,105,900 under extrabudgetary resources, will be required to carry out the activities planned.

Current cost accounting theory suggests that the method of allocating overhead costs should be linked to any activities that are related to those costs.

In the biennium 2004 2005, the Division organized and funded 28 statistical capacity building activities, attended by some 1,026 officials from more than 110 national statistical offices.

Start up activities and projected costs

The American Association of Jurists finances its activities with the contributions of its associates, membership dues, and the income of registration fees in some of its activities.

In the recosting, previous assumptions are updated based on actual monthly operational rates in the country of operation.
