The members of the Council have agreed on the terms of reference of the mission, a copy of which is enclosed herewith.

In November, we were visited by a United Kingdom delegation led by the Secretary of State for International Development a mission from Belgium, led by the Minister for Development Cooperation and the Minister of Defence a mission from the World Bank headed by the Vice President for Africa and, finally, two high level expert missions from France and from Germany recently visited Burundi.

At the time of the visit, the annual rate of inflation was estimated at 20 25 per cent and the real interest rates were around 6 8 per cent.

The mission will be led by Ambassador Jean Marc de La Sablière of France.
