In 2006 a series of conferences would be held to mark the thirtieth anniversary of the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules, and in 2007, in the context of its fortieth session, the Commission planned to organize a congress in Vienna to review the results of its past work, assess current work programmes and consider and evaluate topics for future work.

At its regular session in 2006, the Board should assess the results of the upcoming Hong Kong meeting.

The second International Workshop envisages that the Assessment of Assessments might take about two years.

The second International Workshop reached the following conclusions about the nature of the Assessment of Assessments

At its sixtieth session, by resolution 60 30 of 29 November 2005, the General Assembly invited UNEP and the UNESCO Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC), under the guidance of an ad hoc steering committee, to take the lead in the production of a so called assessment of assessments as an initial phase in a planned global marine assessment process.

Another delegate requested UNCTAD to undertake analytical work on the methodologies for assessing and benchmarking competitiveness in order to develop a framework to better assess competitiveness of developing countries and their enterprises.

In September 2003 the government submitted its response to the evaluation of this Act to the House of Representatives of the States General.

The Government position paper on the evaluation was presented to Parliament on 12 July 2002.

The assessment of the intergovernmental machinery (recommendation 3) was being conducted in consultation with the commissions.
