As shown in annex II.C to the present report, the revised vehicle establishment of MONUA calls for a total of 959 vehicles, consisting of 816 road vehicles and 143 stationary (trailer) vehicles.

The total number of registered vehicles on 30 December 1996 was 27,722.

The proposed vehicle establishment for the budgeted period totals 935 United Nations owned vehicles, consisting of 788 road vehicles and 147 trailers.

No new vehicles were purchased for UNMIH.

The 534 vehicles mentioned above included 15 sedans, 485 4x4s, 26 light buses and 8 medium buses, of which 22 light buses and 8 medium buses were to be provided from stock.

In Denmark, there are still only 1,224 electric cars. In Germany, car sales totaled 3.2 million in 2011, but only 2,154 were electric.

As compared to the current level of UNFICYP vehicles, the proposed vehicle establishment includes 48 additional vehicles for commercial hire and the write off of 8 vehicles (four 4x4 trucks) with replacement.

The Advisory Committee was informed, on enquiry, that the vehicle fleet strength was 8,397 vehicles of all types as at April 1998 and was estimated at 8,500 vehicles as at 1 July 1998.

Provision for spare parts, repairs and maintenance is based on 300 per month per vehicle for vehicles which are over one year old, for 220 vehicle months and 100 per month per vehicle for new vehicles, for 162 vehicle months.
