Google, the world's most popular Internet search engine, regularly indexes information published on the portal's news service, taking the website to a far wider global audience.

The UNIFEM portal, http www.womenwarpeace.org, has had four million hits in 18 months.

It will continue to provide information on its site about all developments in the area of women's human rights, including a link to the WomenWatch portal.

Steps have been taken to establish a platform that will accommodate regional portals, enable online volunteers to become involved in building the site and facilitate interactive services to allow users to contribute.
