On 9 December 1995, the torture marked bodies of Nasir and Arif Hussain, relatives of the MQM (Altaf) leader Altaf Hussain, were found in a Karachi suburb.

With respect to the relationship between the Algerian Constitution and the Convention, she said that, in accordance with legislation introduced in 1999 by the Constitutional Council, international instruments ratified by Algeria prevailed over domestic laws, and Algerian women were therefore entitled to cite the provisions of the Convention before national courts.
