Of the 761 currently approved posts (470 Professional, 288 General Service and 3 Security Service), as at 31 March 2005, a total of 718 were encumbered (445 Professional, 270 General Service and 3 Security Service).

It also provided for an increase in the number of posts compared with the authorized posts mentioned above this time, the increase consisted of 167 posts, including 111 international posts, divided as follows 31 Professional, and 80 General Service and related categories. The rest of the posts were local posts.

Selected global monitoring, evaluation and research

The core resources available have declined more sharply than total resources.

The resulting unencumbered balance of 556,200 represents, in gross terms, approximately 17 per cent of the amount apportioned.

In total, 416 posts are proposed for funding from the support budget (105 international Professional, 57 national Professional and 254 General Service posts). The temporary staffing requirements included 65 additional temporary posts, 17 international and 30 national, which were budgeted under general temporary assistance, as well as 18 United Nations Volunteers.

The unspent balance of 21,752,900 gross ( 19,524,600 net) represents, in gross terms, some 12 per cent of the amount appropriated.
