B. The mission to eastern Zaire 6 14 3

The Special Representative visited three provinces.

Mission of 3 10 August 1996

The report of the visit is contained in addendum 3 to the present report.

Spring is the best season to visit Kyoto.

The reports on these visits are contained in addenda 2 and 3 to the present document.

Tuesday 3 December Visit to Kompong Speu province

Moreover, the Government limited the visit to one day and explicitly excluded private interviews or visits with detainees.

To mention only two cases, a first visit, scheduled for 13 to 18 May 1996, did not take place, although everything had already been approved, and it was only three days to the departure date.

Prime Minister Diarra also visited the area on 3 June, as did President Gbagbo on 14 June.

In March 2005, the Special Envoy visited Palestine, Israel, Egypt as well as Russia to exchange opinions on peace promoting efforts.

A three day joint visit to Darfur by the Government and the United Nations to disseminate and raise awareness of the amended circular on the treatment of rape victims was successfully concluded on 24 March.

The Special Rapporteur on Torture undertook a mission to Pakistan from 23 February to 3 March 1996.

I visited Mongolia from 4 to 11 March 2005.

The independent expert visited Garowe, Bossaso and Hafun in Puntland , from 3 to 5 February.

The Special Rapporteur visited the Occupied Palestinian Territory from 26 June to 3 July 2005.

That subcommittee has made three visits, the first in March 2005 to Morocco and Mali, the second to Sudan and Egypt in June and the third to Senegal, Gambia, Benin and Nigeria in October.

My Special Envoy has not been able to visit the country since March 2004.

The Council mission left New York on 4 November and returned on 11 November.

During the month of March, 52 per cent of hits downloads were not traceable by country of origin.

The Monitoring Group travelled in the region when it was deemed necessary, and visited areas of concern in Kenya.

(a) Concerning the duration of the visit, the representatives questioned why the Special Rapporteurs had initially requested a visit of eight days, but had more recently requested a visit of longer duration

The travel arrangements for a one day visit to Wau were also made.

The assessment mission visited Burundi from 16 to 24 May 2004.

The visits to Bhutan and to Nepal are the subjects of Addenda 2 and 3.

In 2000 2003, worldwide activity on the website increased eight fold to reach 32 million hits, from 3.5 million visitors.

During his visit to the Middle East in March 1997, the Secretary General, while at Cairo, called on Mr. Esmat Abdel Maguid.

The duration of the visits varied from half a day up to two weeks.

The Special Rapporteur visited Japan from 3 to 12 July 2005. The mission will be the subject of a comprehensive report to the Commission on Human Rights at its sixty second session in March 2006.

Ambassador Oshima will thereafter report back to the Security Council on his findings.

I mentioned earlier that a special mission visited Bermuda in March.

B. Missions undertaken or under consideration by the Special Rapporteur

With these natural allies seeking to add strategic bulk to their rapidly multiplying ties, Akihito s tour is the most significant visit to India by any foreign leader in recent years. Indeed, it is expected to be one of the last foreign trips for the 79 year old emperor, who has undergone several major surgeries in the past decade.

The CTC has finished its first round of country visits, which began in March this year.

6. The Special Rapporteur visited South Africa from 24 February to 5 March 1998.

The Special Rapporteur visited Pakistan from 22 February to 3 March 1986 at the invitation of the Government.

5. The mission was carried out between 25 and 29 March, the Rapporteur being accompanied only by his assistant and the Director of the High Commissioner apos s office in Kinshasa.

The visit was in follow up to a preparatory mission of five days carried out in July 1996 by Mr. Joinet, the former Chairman of the Group, during which he met with officials, visited a prison in Beijing and a re education through labour centre in Shandung province and agreed upon modalities for a future visit by the Working Group (see E CN.4 1997 4, paras. 23 35).

Eventually, it was agreed that the visit would take place early in 1996 and the Special Rapporteur carried out the mission from 23 February to 3 March 1996, including visits to Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi.

There was a parent visiting that day, just sitting in the back of the room.

Before leaving on mission, the Committee meets for one day in Geneva.

The independent expert's mission took place in an election period which started in February 2005 and ends in September 2005.

The visit of the Deputy Secretary General to Côte d'Ivoire in March gave an important impetus to these efforts.
