The Council also endorses the request to the Special Representative to submit annual reports on his her activities to the Commission, including recommendations for effective strategies for the better implementation of the rights of persons belonging to minorities, and the request to the Secretary General to provide all the necessary resources, from within existing budgetary resources, for the effective fulfilment of the mandate of the Special Representative.

The Economic and Social Council, taking note of Commission on Human Rights resolution 2005 of April 2005, approves the Commission's decision to extend the mandate of the independent expert on the situation of human rights in the Sudan for one year, and to request him to submit an interim report to the General Assembly at its sixtieth session and to report to the Commission at its sixty second session.

Decides to continue its consideration of the situation of human rights in Nepal at its sixty second session under the same agenda item.

Approves the request of the Commission to the Secretary General to appoint a special representative on the issue of human rights and transnational corporations and other business enterprises, for an initial period of two years, to undertake the activities set out in that resolution.

Recommends the following draft decision to the Economic and Social Council for adoption
