The South East Asian subregional workshop on ERs and market access and export competitiveness for leather and footwear (Bangkok, November 2003) indicated that the recently introduced ban in the EU on some 20 azo dyes is causing significant adjustment problems in the region, leading to a surge of imports of azo free dyes, mostly from German companies.

The workshop proposed that the existing cleaner technology centres in the region (jointly supported by UNIDO, UNEP and UNESCAP) should make a concerted effort to assist in the development and production of azo free dyes and related chemicals with stable quality parameters.

And these dyes change color in response to odors.

KS Now the way it works there's a matrix of color dyes.

The supply of substitute dyes from the region of stable quality and at reasonable prices is inadequate.

So the key thing in terms of these new tools that are kind of plumbing the depths of the global brain, that are sending kind of trace dyes through that whole bloodstream the question is, are you finding out something new?

We can inject these dyes into the bloodstream, so that when we do a new vessel and we bypass a blockage on the heart, we can see if we actually made the connection, before we close that patient back up again something that we haven't been able to do without radiation before.

By the end of the 19th century, however, Germany, with much lower wages levels, had overtaken England in steel production, and was clearly dominant in the new technologies of electrical goods, chemicals, and dyes, as well as in many aspects of fine engineering. But Germany also swamped world s markets with mass consumption goods cheaper musical instruments than the traditional makers in France or Italy could produce, and lithographic prints used for Christmas cards and seaside postcards.
