The evolution of the Economically Active Population (PEA) presents itself as an active participation of women, while male's is slightly lower, in accordance with the parameters of general population growth.

Courses requiring attendance mainly attract adolescents and the elderly, with relatively little participation by the economically active population.

(a) comprises about 330,000 small businesses which generate some 760,000 jobs, or roughly 26 of the economically active population.

Further, although often better educated than men, women accounted for only 28 per cent of the economically active population.

According to the 1993 census, Peru apos s economically active population (EAP) comes to 7,109,527, i.e. 51.2 per cent of the population of working age.

The processes of economic adjustment manifest themselves in a decline in the number of women workers in the economically active population and the employed population.

As far as the employment of women is concerned, they account for 49.3 per cent of the economically active population.

The share of women in Panama apos s economically active population has increased very little in the past 30 years.

In 1990, men accounted for 66.6 per cent of the economically active population, while women accounted for 28 per cent.

Overall, the country has an extremely young population profile, which is why the economically active population (EAP) accounts for only 35 per cent of the total.

However, frequent reporting of annual data on the economically active population by sex and age improved over the three time periods.

This report gave statistics on women in the EAP (economically active population) who hold managerial and administrative posts in Peruvian enterprises.

RURAL ECONOMICALLY INACTIVE POPULATION WITH

In accordance with the data provided by INE (1998), about 62 of the Mozambican population aged 7 years and above is economically active.

The 1991 household survey estimated that approximately 66.17 per cent of the economically active population were men and 33.83 per cent were women.

Nevertheless, there are fewer economically active women than men.

376. The economically active population was predominantly male, men representing 70.4 per cent of the EAP, but women nevertheless accounted for nearly one third.

373. If the number of economically active people in the age group 15 17 is compared with the total population in this age group in Poland, it can be seen that during the period 1978 1994 the numbers of economically active youth increased (see table 29).

Benin has a population estimated at 7,103,000 in 2005,1 of which 54 per cent live in rural areas. As much as 54 per cent2 of the economically active population work in agriculture.

Lebanon has a population estimate of 3,761,000 in 2005,1 of which 12 per cent live in rural areas. As much as 4 per cent of the economically active population work in agriculture.

Burkina Faso has a population estimated at 13,798,000 in 2005,1 of which 81 per cent live in rural areas. As much as 92 per cent2 of the economically active population work in agriculture.

The Gambia has a population estimate of 1,499,000 in 2005,1 of which 74 per cent live in rural areas. As much as 79 per cent of the economically active population work in agriculture.

About 125 of 204 countries or areas provided data on the economically active population by sex and 123 of those further disaggregated the data by age.

Of the total EAP, 82.6 per cent is employed. In rural areas, 73.9 per cent of economically active women are employed, versus 92.3 per cent of economically active men.
