It exists. What is a snob?

Now, the opposite of a snob is your mother.

That's not because, or it's not simply because, I'm a snob and want to boast about having an original.

A snob is anybody who takes a small part of you and uses that to come to a complete vision of who you are.

In the United States, the word liberal, in the mouths of populist radio hosts and right wing politicians, has become almost synonymous with effete East Coast snob or, worse, New York intellectual. Liberals, in this view, are not only soft, but are somehow distinctly un American.

Santorum, after all, recently called Obama a snob for claiming that all Americans should be entitled to a college education. So he must surely loath writers who represent everything that the Tea Party and other radical right wingers abhor the highly educated, intellectual, urban, secular, and not always white.
