The remarkable difference between the number of children enrolled in primary education and those in secondary education indicative of a very high dropout rate is extremely alarming, as is the lopsidedness in favour of boys.

The major challenges in the field of education are to rehabilitate at least 25 per cent of the primary and secondary schools, to improve access to quality and basic education and to develop a comprehensive education programme that will effectively redress the lopsidedness in favour of illiteracy or poor education.
