Four major types of action have been undertaken macro economic reforms, reforms of the administration, privatization of public enterprises and liberalization of the economy.

At least the measures involving major reforms or amendments to the Charter must be adopted by consensus.

As a result of major reforms in the judicial system of Brazil, police officers and judges now had more time to devote to serious crimes.

The Secretary General s reforms have given a major impulse to the achievement of that goal through UNDAF, complementing the country strategy note, where it exists.

Nearly all the major institutional reforms, such as strengthening the legislature, holding village elections, and building a modern legal system, were launched in the 1980 s. Since the Tiananmen Square massacre of June 1989, however, not a single major democratic reform initiative has been implemented.

The gender factor had acquired particular importance during the current implementation of major national reforms in the areas of social policy, administrative and governmental apparatus, and financial and budgetary relations.
