As discussed in our previous report, the Surrogacy Agreements Law (Approval of Agreement and Status of Newborn Child), 5756 1996 ( Surrogacy Agreements Law (Approval of Agreement and Status of Newborn Child) ), regulates the approval of surrogacy agreements and the status of the unborn children.

A similar agreement with Egypt was approved by the Council of Ministers in May 1998.

11. On 26 April, an extraordinary session of the pro independence FLNKS unanimously ratified the agreement and authorized its signature.

The decision on the logo was approved by consensus through e mail correspondence among the members of the Logo Approval Committee.

We hope that the adoption by consensus of this new legal instrument will open the door for many more States to ratify the Convention and, at the same time, the Optional Protocol.

It may be recalled that the COP, at its second session, by its decision 15 CP.2, approved the abovementioned Agreement, and the United Nations completed the formal requirements for entry into force of the Agreement in December 1996.

To be approved, more than half the total number of members of Congress must vote in favour of the motion.
