As for the high level segment of the forty third session of the Board, his Government had, in the light of today apos s planning, indicated its wish to be represented at ministerial level at the high level segment.

30. Requests the High Commissioner to report on his activities to the General Assembly at its sixty third session.

Based on a decision taken by the Committee at its thirty third session, the Chairperson invited the High Commissioner for Human Rights to meet with the Committee during its thirty fourth session to discuss proposals pertaining to the human rights treaty bodies in the High Commissioner's 2005 Plan of Action.

The tripartite conference calls upon the High level Plenary Meeting of the General Assembly in September 2005 to take into account the conclusions and recommendations of this conference.

A number of members expressed strong support for ESCAP in the preparations for the Third Ministerial Conference.

Following the opening of the high level plenary meeting on 10 February, the Commission continued with three simultaneous high level round tables, held in the framework of the 10 year review, on the three core issues addressed by the World Summit for Social Development eradicating poverty, promoting full employment and fostering social integration.

III. Message from UNCTAD s Commission on Trade in Goods and Services, and Commodities to the fifth session of the Commission on Sustainable Development

The Chairperson said that four meetings would be devoted to the national implementation of the Programme of Action, one meeting to statements by non governmental organizations and civil society, one meeting to the regional and global implementation of the Programme of Action and three meetings to the thematic discussion.

The Commission on Human Rights, in its resolution 1996 39, invited the High Commissioner for Human Rights to report to it at its fifty third session.

Owing to the importance of the High level Plenary Meeting, the head of State of the country of the President of the General Assembly at its fifty ninth session and the head of Government of the country of the President of the Assembly at its sixtieth session will jointly preside over the three day High level Plenary Meeting.

General activities for the promotion of human rights undertaken by the High Commissioner are mentioned in the report of the High Commissioner to the General Assembly at its fifty third session.4

His Group welcomed the decision to hold a high level segment on investment at the forty third session of the Board and hoped that all member countries would make every effort to ensure the highest level of representation possible.
