The theme of employment and labour migration has also been addressed by a number of international conferences, in particular the International Conference on Population and Development, the World Summit for Social Development, the World Conference on Women and the World Conference on Human Rights.

The 29th FAFICS Council session was held in Geneva at the Headquarters of the International Labor Organization (ILO) and was welcomed by Mr. Alan Wild, the Representative of the Director General, who briefed the Council on the reforms taking place within the ILO in the light of changing world conditions and stated that the ILO must also change to keep pace with world conditions.

To my mind, the Sub Commission should seek to develop working links with organizations such as the International Labour Organization, the World Health Organization and development agencies.
