On 20 April 2005, the communal elections law and electoral code were promulgated, and CENI announced the revised electoral schedule communal elections on 3 June legislative elections on 4 July Senate elections on 29 July presidential elections (by the new Parliament) on 19 August and colline elections on 23 September 2005.

The presidential elections were successfully conducted in 2004 and the parliamentary and provincial elections are due to be held on 18 September 2005.
