In comparison to large firms, SMEs are more likely to develop linkages with local enterprises and supply productive inputs locally.

With respect to the types of enterprises, one may distinguish between informal sector enterprises, essentially microenterprises, and enterprises in the formal sector, which include some microenterprises, SMEs and large firms.

It seeks to promote the fulfilment of the individual and thereby improves the competitiveness of enterprises and makes for better integration into the market and inclusion in the development process.

The TEAM will involve assessing the level of SME participation in exports and the areas in which SMEs are prevalent.

Many of the micro entrepreneurs who have participated in such programmes have been women who have been able to start and operate a successful business through their credit union loan.

Trade facilitation reduced barriers to the participation of SMEs in trade, increased employment and allowed entrepreneurs to become partners in the globalization and liberalization of trade.

Greater effort was needed to broaden the engagement of transnational corporations as well as local industry and State owned enterprises.

The programme had no rigid boundaries it was designed to provide the participating entrepreneurs with the business support they needed to sustain and succeed in their business activities over the years and to identify and develop entrepreneurial skills.

42. The actions described above will contribute to foster the active participation in international trade of SMEs worldwide.

Distribution services encompass a number of different activities related to bringing together producers and consumers, dealing both with business to business transactions and transactions between business and the final consumer.

In addition, the Ministry of Industry was focusing on the relocation of industries to rural areas, investment in SMEs and cottage industries with economic potential with a view to encouraging their participation in the international economy, and promoting and improving linkages between SMEs and main industries.

The involvement and potential misuse of non financial businesses and professions for money laundering have attracted international concern recently, as more cases of such involvement have emerged.
